FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOUR PROGRAM AND CURRICULUM?

Apogee HoCo is a a full-time Leadership Academy. Apogee HoCo offers growth and support for the whole family. We provide support for homeschool families two days per week, which includes a 12-month continuing education for the parents. Our parents will be able to grow alongside one another, bring their children along and be connected to other Apogee parents across the country for collaboration and support.

We aim to develop young leaders and empower their families, equipping them to do life well. We use an innovative approach to whole person formation. Our goal is to prepare children for life, which we do by creating a microcosm of life for young people to develop strong character as they become competent, confident and capable leaders.

Apogee combines the best elements of hands-on experiential projects, Socratic learning for critical thinking and powerful communication, maximizing outdoor learning, and interactive technology, creating a learning environment that feels more like an educational adventure than a school.

At Apogee we utilize mixed-age learning with a self-paced design an opposed to segregating by age via grade-levels. Our projects seek to instill real-world skills through the functional application of creating, which culminates in a public exhibition of learning as opposed to testing. In all areas of Apogee life, our learners are empowered to be in the driver's seat of their lifelong education.

Our program is structured around 7 project-based sessions that run from September to June. Each project session runs 4-6 weeks with a 1-2 week break following each session. This allows time for our young people to reflect, integrate and return excited and refreshed for the next session. Our schedule also provides quality family time for memories throughout the year.

what is the apogee code?

The Apogee Code is a code of ethics that all members of our community commit to live by:

INTEGRITY

"Integrity is the choice between what's convenient and whats right." - Tony Dungy

I will make good on my dealings with others. I will be a self-controlled leader, denying myself any privileges which could potentially derail my credibility. I will not waiver or compromise on what is true and right.

BRAVERY

"A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave for five minutes longer." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

My ideals will not waiver in the face of danger. I will stand up for what is right, and will not compromise, no matter who the enemy, and, especially when the enemy is myself.

COMPASSION

"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion." - Dalai Lama

I will have a countenance of generosity, sympathy, and forgiveness. Compassion serves others, even to the discomfort of self. A change to help others is an opportunity to change the very direction of humanity.

HONESTY

"Befriend the man who is brutally honest, for honesty is the highest form of respect. - Daniel Saint

My word is my bond, and that bond cannot be broken. In an age where contracts and handshakes are marginalized, I am Apogee Strong, committed to my word at all costs.

POLITENESS

"A polite gentleman is indeed one who puts more into this world than he takes out." - George Bernard Shaw

Extending politeness to all and utilizing good manners is a chance to honor those who have come before me, as well as inspire those who come after me. respect is gained by the consistent manner with which I deal with people, so I will deal with them accordingly.

HONOR

"The greatest way to live with honor in this world is to be who we pretend to be." - Socrates

I will have a dignity of worthiness in all of my work, my cause, and my purpose. My transparency in leadership and principled living will be evident in public and in private.

LOYALTY

"Nothing is more noble, nothing more venerable, than loyalty." - Cicero

I am loyal to myself, my cause, my family, my friends and to the betterment of society through the daily living of the Apogee Code. I take personal responsibility for my decisions and actions, as well as their correlating results.
